Change the World

05/03/10 11:00 PM

What if...one weekend 11 million United Methodists around the world came together to work in their communities? What if..we unite globally to fight a preventable, treatable disease that kills one child every 30 seconds?

Michael Slaughter says we have to be the gospel before others can believe. On April 24-25, 2010 there were 1000 registered events for "Change the World." At least one of those events was held in the Farmville District. The Amelia Thrift Store, a community outreach ministry of Jetersville UMC, committed their Saturday proceeds to "Nothing But Nets". To help boost sales and raise extra money, members of Salem and Jetersville  held a bake sale at the store, too. It looks like they will have $410 to send to Nothing But Nets to stop  suffering from malaria in Africa. If your church participated, please let us know. To read more, go to umc.org
