A special thanks to all of the people that helped to make our District Conference and District Steward’s Service a great combination of business and celebration on October 2, 2011. We celebrated Communion took care of our business and heard messages on “Snapshots of the Kingdom”. Laity and clergy took part in the service.
From Crenshaw UMC we especially want to thank Scott Hopkins, pastor, Laura Bragg, Administrative Assistant, the ushers and Judy Amos, the organist. We thank the presenters: Ralph “Red” Moore (Plantersville UMC), Ken Thrasher (Prospect/ Ebony), and Gus Paulette (Evergreen/Pamplin). We also heard reports from Sue Mayo (UMW), William “Bill” Schall (UMM), Melissa Johnson (Children’s Coordinator), Marilyn Davis (Youth Coordinator), Ed Rigg (Chair, District Committee of Ordained Ministry), and Randy Williams (Inclusivity). We are so blessed to have such wonderful volunteers serving the Lord in these area of ministry. We recognized Susie Wolf (Lay Leader) and Marilyn Davis (Youth Coordinator) for their service as they leave their positions after many years of service. We welcomed Johnnie Morris as the new Lay Leader. Johnnie Morris and Bob Parks, Scott Hopkins and Martha Reed served Communion. Johnnie had the Benediction. I apologize if I have missed anyone. It would not have been as special without every one that helped to make it so. We want to sincerely thank everyone that contributed to the Horn of Africa—Somalia Offering that was received at this Conference. We collected $734.10.
